With a Bachelor’s degree in English, author Thomas Swick began his career editing engineering reports for the Department of Navy. With a true love of adventure and thinking he wanted to be a travel writer, Tom hoped aboard the Queen Elizabeth 2 to France where his journey began. Since the early days, Tom has traveled to more than 60 countries, and among other activities, edited the travel section of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel for nearly 20 years. Through essays and stories, his latest book, The Joys of Travel takes readers through what Tom feels are the seven fundamental joys of travel….Anticipation…..Movement….Break from Routine…. Novelty…. Discovery…. Emotional Connection…. and a Heightened Appreciation of Home. Throughout his journey, Tom also makes a compelling case for the importance of traveling off the beaten path.
