Fashion dictates that no matter what city it’s held in, it's an industry-wide celebration that blends the talents of fashionable craftsmen and creative minds alike. Churning out the hottest designers, runway shows, fashion photos and celebrities, fashion week is an endless parade of glitz and glamour.
Although places such as New York, Milan and Paris are well-known hot spots for designers, Miami has made a name for itself in the fashion industry. Founded in 1999 by Beth Sobol, Miami Fashion Week has now become the biggest, boldest and most popular Latin American and International Fashion celebration across the Nation.
Not to be confused with fashion festivals such as the Mercedes-Benz Fashion extravaganza in South Florida, this ultimate fashion event in Southern Florida takes place May 31st through June 4th, 2017. Here you’ll get to see the hottest looks from today’s fashion icons from Latin America, and the Caribbean.
The influences of Fashion Week in South Florida have surpassed swimsuits and cover-ups. As home to one of the longest running runway celebrations in the area, you’ll also find a staggering number of designs in other categories such as intimate wear, evening wear, Resort wear and menswear.
In May of 2015, The Fashion Shows acquired the company and put into motion an aggressive relaunching event plan. This goal helped bring attention and revitalize the areas fashion industry. With the help of Antonio Banderas as honorary president, this special event gained recognition as the top international industry celebration for designers. This makes South Florida a vivacious metropolis for the international jet setters and those who love and follow fashion.
With its sandy beaches, dynamic night lift and breathtaking scenery, it’s become a prime platform between Latin America and United States. It also provides the designers with an opportunity to create original designs and showcase the fashions through the various platforms.
With over 600 journalists in attendance and some of the biggest names in fashion royalty in attendance, it’s become one of the hottest social tickets in Miami. Designers such as Agatha Ruiz De La Prada, Angel Sanchez, Fisico, Custo, Rene Ruiz, Yirko, Shantall Lacayo and Silvia Tcherassi are just a sampling of the talent that will be adorning the runway.
