Beth Sobol is the CEO & President of Miami Fashion Week. She is currently also the President & CEO of  the Sobol-Perry Fashion Productions, which was founded in 1996 and is a full service fashion show company based in South Florida with an international clientele. In 2010 Aaron Perry joined Beth Sobol and together they rebranded Sobol-Perry Fashion Productions, Inc. to focus on developing global partnerships and the expansion of the Miami Fashion Week brand. Not only that, Beth is also the president of the Miami Fashion Week Foundation, a non-profit organization which raises funds for educational scholarships. We are impressed!

We had the pleasure of catching up with her at the Miami Fashion Week launch party last night and here is what she has to say:

Lady Code: Tell us why you love Miami and why is Miami Fashion Week your favorite time of the year?

Beth: Miami is one of the most spectacular cities in the world and with Miami Fashion Week going into its 16th year, the direction has turned towards the resort collection and there are designers from 25 countries this year.

Lady Code: What are you most excited this time around for Miami Fashion Week?

Beth: We are the only fashion week in the world that focuses on resort, we have spring, summer and fall but nobody else is doing resort, only Miami Beach.

Lady Code: Tell us more about your experience in the fashion industry?

Beth: That’s a trick question, well I started in the industry when I was 19, I was a model for 20 years in 40 countries. I did runway modeling for major collections all over the world, Paris, Milano, Munich.

Lady Code: What is the biggest challenge for putting together such a big scale event like this?

Beth: I work on the show 24/7 every day of the year, I mean I never stop – my cellphone, email, work phone. We do have the press, designers, and other teams working with us as well.

Lady Code: What should our readers expect from Miami Fashion Week this year?

Beth: We have a lot of wonderful designers who have traveled from all over the world to be here. The 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th we have master classes on color and design, we have fashion photography and it’s going to be incredible for students, and anyone who is interested in the design industry to come see these people, in one place, in one city; it’s unbelievable!

Don’t forget to check back on Lady Code for coverage on the rest of Miami Fashion Week from the 14th to the 18th of May. We will be bringing you the exclusives.
