President & Executive Producer, Miami International Fashion Week Beth Sobol is wrapping up a 48-hour visit to Kingston, where she sat in as a guest judge for Mission Catwalk and finalised arrangements for a group of Jamaican designers to show for the first time at Miami Beach International Fashion Week. There were, too, meetings with JAMPRO and the Jamaica Tourist Board. SO took the opportunity ahead of dinner with Brian and Keneea George at the Spanish Court hotel to share a glass of wine and exchange style notes.

What are you drinking?

A perfectly chilled Pinot Grigio.

How has your trip been so far?

Fruitful. I was a guest judge this morning and am looking forward to hosting Keneea Linton-George, the Mission Catwalk finalists and the Jamaican designers at next month's Miami Beach International Fashion Week.

Are you a socialite or a homebody?

A little bit of both, really.

Flats or stilettos?

Stilettos hands down. A woman walks more regally in stilettos.

What's your must-have accessory?

Earrings. The gold against the face adds a great glow.

What's your style?

Classic with a chic twist.

What's in your handbag?

What's not? (chuckles) Most of all, my wallet that no longer closes, my business cards, BlackBerry, my passport and bottled water. I must have water at all times.

What perfume are you dabbing?

I got into the habit of not wearing perfume during my years as a model, as perfume stains clothes. I use bath gels and body sprays.

What's the buzz this year around Miami Beach International Fashion Week?

The fact that we're moving from the Design District, where we've been for the past four years, back to the Beach -- Miami Beach Convention Center is good news for a lot of people.

Which designer(s), if any, impressed you last year?

Jad Ghandour and Danasha Luxury unveiled last year a US$1.5-million diamond and 18-carat gold evening dress.

Where's the best place to find you when you're not working?

I'm always working, but maybe exercising in the park, cycling or jogging.

What's in your car stereo or iPod?

Jazz, Caribbean and Latin sounds, plus classical music -- my daughter who is a classical musician has piqued my interest.

Describe the perfect date and the perfect man.

A strong, confident, well-travelled man whom I would not intimidate.

What projects are you currently working on?

Miami Beach International Fashion Week and its extensions, like the 2012 Trade Show. There is, too, a role that I've been offered in the British reality TV show Britain's Next Top Model.

Who or what inspires you?

Success -- as one works towards new projects, growing an event, eg, The Trade Show, facilitating one milestone after the other, as you accomplish one thing and then move on to the next.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

From my mum... 'Don't be afraid of your dreams'.

And 10 years from now?

Hopefully enjoying all of the great successes of Sobol-Perry Fashion Productions. I now have a business partner -- Aaron Perry, Senior Vice Chairman, Immediate Past Chair, Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.
